The Yin Yang symbol is sometimes also called the Tai Chi symbol. Tai-Chi in turn comes from I-Ching which is the foundation of Chinese philosophy. The Yin Yang has a black and white part. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. "Cynical Stevers"
This product is not exactly what I anticipated it to be, as it was hollow from the back. You can't see this in the picture. Also, the yang side of the necklace was slightly damaged. It would be nice to have the pieces on separate cords as well. However, it is a good product for the price and it shipped very quickly. I recommend this product to anyone who would like a yin-yang necklace, and wouldn't mind a little assembly, for a fairly low price.

I bought this item when my bf and I both lost our original Ying/Yang necklace (on separate occasions). It was bought from a different company the one we lost. I told him that I would buy us new one's. I saw this one on amazon. I don't remember why but I didn't buy the original one that he got me. But I like this one and the price seemed fine. Well I was kinda disappointed with it from the get go. It's hollow in the back. It looks painted (I'll get to that later) and it doesn't weight much which isn't a plus/negative just an observation. I've had this item since Jan 2010. Well now the PAINT has completely fallen off (I have the white portion, he has the black) and mine is completely visibly copper. Now it doesn't look like half of the ying/yang. His portion is the black one and on the back it's painted silver/white, the rim is starting to loose the paint too and you can see the cooper now too. It's very disappointing I feel let down by this product. It's low grade quality in my opinion.
